Bike, Walk or Carpool to Church Sunday, June 12
The Minnesota Bike Coalition along with the city of Minneapolis is closing Lyndale Avenue (from 22nd to 42nd Street) to all automobiles Sunday, June 12. Open Streets are not races. Participants can begin/stop/restart/change direction at any time. Each end of the event route will be closed to motorized traffic. Motorized traffic will be allowed to cross the route at signalized intersections as facilitated by police/security personnel. Intersections with stop signs will be barricaded.
So plan to reduce your carbon footprint by biking, walking or carpooling to church on June 12 and stay after church to be part of the celebration with our neighbors as we give thanks for this great neighborhood! Here is what will be happening at Bethlehem:
- Parking: Enter the parking lot on Aldrich Avenue only. Plenty of parking will be available as the planned activities will be on the lawns. Since there will be no cars on Lyndale, crossing the street will be easier so try parking on the east side streets if the lot is full. A policeman will be on duty directing traffic.
- Bike corral (staffed 9:00-2:00 pm) on south side of the church
- Blessing of Bicycles and Other Wheeled Things at 11:15 am on the south lawn
- Bike clinic for pumping tires, minor repairs and sharing information (10-noon) with Tommy T Cyclery of Linden Hills
- Bethlehem Care Ministries provide blood pressure checks and Healing Touch--all morning
- Face painting—beginning at 12:30 pm
- Church tours by Pastor Chris Nelson, Senior Pastor (1:00 and 1:30 pm)
- Music: Chris Thompson, 11:30-12:30 pm
Bethlehem’s 11:30 Worship Ensemble 12:30-1:15 pm
- Iced water, lemonade and granola bars will be available
- ENJOY!
