Marlie Nelson's Habitat Brazil thoughts

On June 20 a team of Bethlehem members and friends traveled to Sao Paolo, Brazil to help families fulfill their dream of having a home with running water and electricity. As they live out God's call to "serve with the strength God provides" (1 Peter 4) and to put our faith into action, we ask for your prayers for the families and the Bethlehem team.

bom día, we arrived safely in Brazil, the 11 of us, exhausted, full of anticipation. It is the 20th of June 2008.  Each of us brings along our own expectations or no expectations at all.

Although we don't all know one another we share a common goal: to build sturdy, straight, dry, dignified, simple brick homes for our brothers and sisters in the land of the Southern Cross.

Penguin Sightings

Yesterday we went in search of penguinos. We left at 7 am and drove 3 hours north to Camarones. The bus stopped at the beach. There were so many stones that you sank with each step. It was quite an adventure to get to the water. It was so beautiful - the water was deep blue, the moss intense green, the rocks so black. I could have stayed there for hours. There were 3 stray dog who accompanied us and not a penguin in sight. We kept walking and I was about to give up when I heard Jane shout, "penguinos, penguinos!" We got there to see them on the rocks. As we got closer they went into the water. How cool to get to see them, even if from a distance.

Buenos Tardes

Wow, I am surprised that you closed today. It must be some storm. The weather is sunny in Comodoro but very windy so we need jackets and sweaters most of the time. We had a hard rain yesterday. The new addition has a fiberglass roof so it really scared the children.

Finally in Comodoro

Wow, it´s already Wednesday. Tuesday was a day of travel. Our plane for Comodoro was to depart at 12:30 and we left at 5:30. Frustrating to say the least but that is the way in Argentina. Aerolineas Argentina has the monoplay. We were greeted at the airport by Pastor Gustavo and his family, Solange (wife) and children Leandro and Lourdes.

hola from Argentina

Greetings to everyone,
