This spring, over 300 people from Bethlehem participated in a survey about their relationship with the Bible. One of the questions asked if there was a character with whom they especially identified. For those who responded, Peter was the favorite male (followed closely by Martha). People seem to embrace Peter because of his blend of passion and imperfection. Here are just a few of the ways people described him:
"Peter...enthusiastic, big mouth, jumping into things, alternately confident and confused...yet believing."
"Peter is such a bumbler, but also has such passion. Manages to become close friend of Jesus, and in spite of his bumbling, make an impact."
People like Peter

How true!
