Talk About It

Read The Seventh Day from an early reading Bible or read and summarize the event from Genesis 2:2-3

  • What did God do after finishing the work of creating the world and everything in it?
  • God set a pattern for our lives: six days of work then a day to spend time with him.
  • How can you spend time with God?

JESUS LINK

On our seventh day, we remember Jesus and find rest with God.

Family Time Options:

Set aside some time for creative praise. Have everyone's input on how your family wants to spend time with God. You may want to make a special dinner or set aside quiet time to mark the day as special. You may just find out you've started a new tradition that's special to your family. Praise and thank God for giving you the ability to serve and love him.

  • Made a "build-a-friend" for snack and reviewed how God made us special.

Talk About It

Read "God Made Man" from an early reading Bible or read and summarize the event from Genesis 1:26-27, 2:7, 21-22.

  • How did God make the world and the things in the world?
  • How did God make people?
  • How did God make you special?

JESUS LINK

Through Jesus all things were made, including me.

Family Time Options:

Look through some old family photo albums and recall some favorite memories. Point out special attributes of your child as you look at the photos. For example, "You sure were a happy baby; God blessed you with a big smile." Or, "God gave you a wonderful imagination. Even as a toddler you loved to pretend." Thank God for the ways in which your child is special.

  • Can you name some of the things God made?
  • What are you expecting God to create next week?

JESUS LINK

God made the world because he loved us; and he sent Jesus into the world to save us.

Family Time Options:

Go to the park, zoo, or just your back yard and point out all the things God made. Go out at night to look at the moon and stars. You can even take your Bible with you and point out what God made in order of the days of creation. Praise God for making everything.
