Words can inform our mind, comfort our hearts, and excite our spirit. Words can build-up or tear down. Words can destroy dreams or foster hope. This is the power of language. In the beginning God's word was so powerful that it brought order to chaos and light to darkness. God spoke, and nothing became something. God's Word even became flesh in Jesus Christ - and the Word changed the world. Have you heard this Word, today, right now, spoken just for you? Join your friends Sundays, 9am, for Lectio Divina, "holy listening."
Sundays at 10:15am students meet on Third Floor for open dialogue with their peers about issues related to Bethlehem's Sermon Series or a hot topic.
We're not doing Youth ministry until YOU(th) are doing ministry. Youth learn models of living by practicing caring conversation, active listening and rolemodeling. Students meet on Wednesdays, 6:30-7:45pm on Third Floor to discover their unique gifts, strengthen friendships, and grow in faith.
It's a space where only the senior high are allowed. It's a place to bring your friends and let it all hang out. There is no hot topic to discuss or sermon series to ponder. The agenda is simply to be with each other and let the Holy Spirit renew and strengthen us for the week. Every Wednesday, 7:45-8:45pm, Viking Room. Can't Drive Yet? Mandy can provide rides home, if communicated ahead of time.
Mission trips, servant events, immersion experiences, and other names we give to service opportunities, all have the potential to be transformative experiences. SALLT utilizes an intentional service learning process (which includes 4 key components: Preparation, Action, Reflection & Celebration) to bring richness and meaning to service experiences. Bethlehem is part of a 5-year research project to measure potential outcomes of service learning in high school youth:
Various youth will be asked to complete surveys, join focus group discussions and provide feedback throughout their exposure to this model. Youth and adults will also be treained in the model, so they can lead and facilitate using its key components. Mandy Licklider Baseman, Senior High Director, is the project lead at Bethlehem.
