An Evening with Author Donna Holte

"Journey to the Top" by Donna Holte - A journey of mother and daughter through dyslexia and attention deficit disorder

Families struggle with dyslexia and attention deficit, and parents wonder how to be their child's best advocate. This evening offers the opportunity to hear an inspiring faith story from within the Bethlehem community, gain insight into lifting up our children's unique giftedness over the long haul, and celebrate the courage of Donna and Sarah to tell the story!  Donna's book was published in October.

ZOOM House Update

In 1997 members of Zion Lutheran Church purchased one of the most crime-ridden buildings in south Minneapolis and named it ZOOM (Zion Originated Outreach Ministry). The 22-unit building was transformed into a program that serves families experiencing homelessness in a transitional housing program, families who are moving from welfare to work, and market rate housing for working families. Bethlehem was one of the partner churches that helped make this transformation happen. Today, ZOOM House continues to be one of our mission partners.

Closing the Gap - Zion and Bethlehem Coming Together

Play video

Over the past few months people from Zion Lutheran Church and Bethlehem Lutheran Church have been meeting together to dream about what it might look like to come together, to close the gap, between our two communities of faith.  The hope is that in being together, we might begin to more fully embody Christ's church in our neighborhood.  The following are the fruit of this teams labor.  Please prayerfully consider being a part of at least one of these experiences.

A Layperson's Guide to Dementia

Saturday, January 12
9:15-11:30 am

Chances are fairly good today that you either know someone who suffers from dementia or someone who loves and cares for someone who has this disease. You've learned from reading the paper or listening to the news that there's great cause for concern about the rapid growth of Alzheimer's disease and the toll it will take on the health care delivery system, our economy and the people who care for and about those who have it. And you want to know more because it may directly impact your life and those you love.

Closing the Gap

We like our space, places where we feel safe, in control, comfortable. But between you and me, between my space and your space, there's a lot of room. In a world of polarity and extremes, the space between us can feel like unfamiliar territory. Closing the gap takes courage, a willingness to be vulnerable. We are gathered under the wings of God's mercy. Enter into the space between. Encounter God who is already there.

This Sunday: John Baptizes  (Luke 3:1-22)

Bible Study on Luke

Wednesdays, Jan. 9-Feb. 6
9:30-10:45 am OR 6:30-7:45 pm

In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus travels, teaches, heals, and points to a day when all God's promises will be kept. God has done something new in Jesus and that's good for all people and all of creation. As we read key stories and events in this Gospel, participants will practice asking questions of the text and look for connection to our lives.

Register. Friends are welcome. Led by Pastor Kris Tostengard Michel.
