Lessons in Flexibility
I arrived in Bangalore at 10:35 this morning. David Samuel (the Executive Director of TAFTEE) and some of his staff were waiting for me. We went to the Whitehead Ecumenical Center- those of you who did the St. Olaf year abroad could well remember it- for the conclusion of a meeting with all the TAFTEE regional coordinators, from all over India. I led a devotion on Ephesians 3:14-20, focusing on a God who can do so much more than we can imagine, and encouraged them to dream big in their work. THEN- plans changed rapidly...
I thought Bangalore was this week and Madurai next- but it was flipped- and not Madurai anymore, but a hill station called Kodaikanal- a place several hours from here where the Brits went to escape the oppressive (and I mean OPPRESSIVE!) heat. We were going to get started on a flight departing at 5:00AM, but then it was discovered that there was another at 6 this afternoon. So we took off for the airport- through traffic and several closed roads, necessitating detours, got to the airport 30 minutes before the flight, waltzed through security, and now, we are in Madurai.
Just another lesson in flexibility- one might say "letting God be God," and that "God is in control, and I'm NOT!" It's a lesson I apparently need repeated, because it happens here again and again! And I just relax and go with it. Those of you who know me well would be amused to see this, but I am getting better at it...
I have no idea whether there is email service where I am going- I hope so, because I want to send you pictures of this extraordinary place... And if not, I'll send them when I get back to Bangalore. Have some patience and flexibility... :>) Blessings and peace, Chris
Kodaikanal
