Summer is a time to kick back and relax. Your small group is probably planning to do that. Why not take this opportunity to try something new together? One way your group can stay connected through the summer is to plan a time to enjoy one another over a meal. Today the custom of eating in community and fellowship is becoming a lost art. Throughout history, eating with others has been an important act of fellowship and community. Jesus ate in community all the time. As you are feeding your bodies with food, feed your spirits by sharing where you see God at work in your life.
Here are some other ideas to think about:
- Bethlehem’s Sunday Service and church picnic at the Lake Harriet Band Shell, July 13. We need help with hospitality, setup, serving and cleanup. This is also a great time to eat with your group.
- The East Harriet Rosefest, July 19, Noon to 8:00 p.m. This summer festival is East Harriet's signature event at Lyndale Farmstead Park. Enjoy inflatable rides, carnival games, pony rides, dunk tank, live music, information booths, Theodore Wirth house tours, garden tours and tasty food and beverages. What will make RoseFest an event that will add to the fabric of our shared experience as a community is neighbors working together to make it happen.
We need groups and individuals to help with both events. Contact Pam Paulson, 612.312.3415, ppaulson@bethlehem-church.org , or Wendy Osman, 612.312.3363, wosman@bethlehem-church.org.
