Event Information:

Leah Yellowbird is a lifelong Minnesota resident who creates mixed-media pieces incorporating painting, beadwork, sculpture and fiber art connected to her Algonquin-Metis and Anishinaabe heritage. She has received Minnesota State Arts Board Folk & Traditional Arts Grants in 2017 and 2020, and other fellowships and awards. Originally a traditional bead-worker, Yellowbird identifies strongly with her heritage. At a young age, she learned from her aunt how to follow traditional beading patterns and has been working in this medium her entire life. This knowledge, combined with her creative eye and exploration of color, has spilled over into the realm of painting, and she is now well-regarded for her work in all mediums.

The exhibit is available for viewing at the Minneapolis Campus on Sunday mornings, before and after worship, through September.
