Celebrate the joy and wonder of Christmas with the voices of Magnum Chorum in a radiant evening of carols both familiar and new. From England, you’ll savor A Hymn of the Nativity by Leighton with a soaring soprano solo witnessing Christ’s birth, the joyful Now May We Singen by Cecilia McDowall and Holst’s gorgeous Nunc Dimittis for 8 parts. Bremer’s charming and melodic carols from the Netherlands proclaim the miraculous Christmas story in Behold, O Shepherds Lowly and When Mary was Going to Bethlehem Town. With virtuoso harp and oboe, Stephen Paulus’ Three Nativity Carols are dazzling with lush harmonies and chromatic suspensions. You’ll hear music by Christiansen, Some Children See Him by Alfred Burt, and encounter the “holy Babe divine” in Godly Stranger by Cassler in this delightful seasonal serenade.
