Elementary (4 years – 4th grade)

Fun, interactive and engaging space for children to learn about and live out their faith. Children will playfully live into the foundational stories, learning about the God who created them and adores them and to whom they belong.

Fall 2020 Sunday School

“Where in the World is Church?”

We aren’t together at church right now, so Children’s Choir Director and VBS Skit Expert Ron takes us on a 5-week adventure trying to track down the answer to “Where in the World is Church?” Each week we will enjoy a choir lesson and time to sing together, a story (from a book, a familiar face, or video), and a prayer. Children from all campuses are welcome; recommended for children ages 3-years through 4th grade. Register now so you can be sure you are able to join the fun! Beginning Sept. 13, 9:30-10:00 am, via Zoom.

Minneapolis

Sunday mornings are high-energy fun with large group gatherings for music and storytelling, as well as small group time to build relationships and learn stories from the Bible. Kids learn to live out their faith through service projects once a month, and foster inter-generational relationships with trusted volunteers of all ages.

Minnetonka

Kids begin and end the morning in worship with their parents, but during the sermon they move to a space just outside the sanctuary for their own experience that helps the stories sink in, in a kid-friendly way.

Spirit Garage

Children participate in worship with their families but head to a space nearby during the sermon for a tactile, kid-friendly activity to engage with the stories heard in worship.

First Communion

Kids are welcome to participate in the Lord’s Supper at any age. It’s helpful to have instruction so we invite first-grade students and their parents to come and learn about communion together. If they haven’t already participated in receiving communion, we encourage them to begin then. It’s never too late, however, to be welcomed to the feast!

During COVID-19, families are welcome to do first communion training at home.

Third Grade Bibles

At the time of baptism, parents promise to place the Bible in their child’s hands. In third grade, we gather families to learn to navigate this sacred text, and then in worship, we celebrate as parents fulfill this promise.

During COVID-19, Bethlehem Lutheran Church Twin Cities is gifting a Bible to every family who registers for Sunday School.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are key to the success of Children’s Ministry! Our kids look up to and learn from our trusted youth and adult volunteers. Everything is different during COVID-19 but we still need volunteers to connect with kids and share in the storytelling. Let us know how you’d like to be involved. A background check is required for all volunteers.
