Information on Member and Non-Member Weddings at Bethlehem Lutheran Church Twin Cities

The church is available for weddings between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm on Saturdays with 4:00 pm being the latest time we like to begin a wedding ceremony.  A typical ceremony is 30 minutes in length.  Rehearsals are usually held at 6:00 pm, the evening prior to the wedding and typically last 1 hour.  Friday evening weddings are also possible, with the latest starting time being 6:00 pm.  Bethlehem is not available for Sunday weddings.  Please call or email Chris Haugen, Director or Wedding Ministry at 612-312-3418 or [email protected] to determine if your wedding date is available at either our Minneapolis or Minnetonka location.

The current fees cover the cost of providing quality services to support you as you plan for your marriage and the wedding day itself.  They include a wedding coordinator, building use fee, pastor, organist and/or pianist, sound technician, custodian, Prepare/Enrich premarital inventory, Pre-Marriage Retreat, Me to We Mini-Financial Workshop and administration fees.  Total fees are $1,330.00.  A deposit of $530 is required to officially reserve your day on Bethlehem’s wedding calendar.  $240.00 of this deposit is nonrefundable once classes have been taken.

  1. All couples married at Bethlehem must take part in our pre-marital process. This includes completing the online Prepare/Enrich Assessment, the Pre-Marriage Retreat, Me-to-We mini financial workshop and meeting with one of our pastors. Bethlehem offers Winter, Spring, and Fall pre-marriage sessions. After determining your wedding date is available, the first step in Bethlehem’s wedding process is to meet with the Director of Wedding Ministry.  At this initial meeting, we will discuss in detail Bethlehem’s pre-marriage process as well as specifics of what your Bethlehem wedding ceremony may look like.  You will also receive our Marriage Handbook which gives you all the information you will need to plan a wedding at Bethlehem.  Please email or call Chris Haugen at [email protected] or 612-312-3418 to begin this critical first step in the wedding planning process.
  2. Attend a Saturday “Pre-Marriage Retreat” at Bethlehem, 9:30 am – 3:30 pm.   This is a day worth making time for Karen Stevensen, a Marriage and Family Counselor leads you through a fun and interactive day covering issues relating to communication, conflict resolution, intimacy and family systems. The $200 cost includes the facilitator fee, materials, light breakfast, and lunch.  Please see our current schedule for this retreat on the right tab.
  3. Attend a “Me to We”  mini-financial workshop at Bethlehem, a 2-hour workshop. Tuesday nights from 6:30 – 8:30 pm or on Saturday mornings from 10:00 –  12:00 pm.   Please see our current schedule for this workshop on the right tab.
  4. Complete the online Prepare/Enrich Assessment.  This assessment will be completed individually and takes approximately 45 minutes to complete.  The results of this assessment will be reviewed with your Bethlehem Pastor.  The link to this assessment will be sent to you approximately 5 months before your wedding day.

We are excited to play a part not only in your wedding ceremony but also in helping you grow a healthy relationship! Other couples who have been through the retreat and financial workshop have found the process very helpful, so we’re confident that you will also benefit from it and have a great time doing it!
