Seniors Together Presents: “Ghost of a Chance”

September 19 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
When reporter Eric Roper moved into his 113 year-old home in Minneapolis, he began an unexpected journey to understand the history of his home, focusing on the owners of the home a century ago.
Harry and Clementine Robinson were notable as one of the few black families to own a home in what is now one of the whitest parts of Minneapolis. Their story of racial segregation and the significant challenges faced by Black families in achieving property ownership is told by Star Tribune Reporter Eric Roper and Producer Melissa Townsend in the six-part podcast, “Ghost of a Chance”.
The series, which describes what happened to the Robinsons, connects to a larger story of segregation that exists in the city today, establishing a direct link between past events and contemporary urban realities.
On September 19, 2025 at 10:00am, please join Seniors Together at the Minnetonka campus to meet Eric and Melissa as they introduce us to the Robinsons. Hear the remarkable story of Harry and Clementine and their courage in the face of segregation, housing inequity and systemic racism. Eric and Melissa will share the story of their research and investigation along with their passion and motivation in creating this historical podcast.
Lunch will be served at 11:30 following the “Ghost of a Chance” presentation and discussion.
Please register on Realm. $10/person to cover the cost of lunch.
