Ash Wednesday grounds us in one of the only certainties about this life. We are formed from the dust of the earth and return to it, too. Mortals spend the in between forgetting and remembering that we are bound to the earth by the tension of this fate, straining and wrestling what it means to be beloved and creature, breath from heaven and dust.
Through scripture, music, and the ancient practice of receiving ashes, this Ash Wednesday will reflect on God’s call to transformation—both in our lives and in our community.
