The term “ambiguous loss” was coined to describe this state of grief that has no end. It is unclear, uncertain, and lacks permanency. It can be challenging because it is not easily recognized in our society as a tangible loss and can exact a great toll on the mental well-being of caregivers.
This presentation will explore the emotional toll, challenges, and coping strategies involved in caregiving through uncertain and often isolating circumstances. Drawing on her personal experience caring for her husband with early-onset dementia and her professional work supporting caregivers, Barb will share insights and practical tools for coping with ambiguous loss.
